Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM)
What is an SBEM?
SBEM is the ‘de-facto’ computer program used to calculate the energy ratings & C02 emissions for all* non-domestic buildings in England, Wales & Scotland, and enables the production of the certification required at ‘Approval’ or ‘Completion’ stages of a project.
- Part L2 - Conservation of Fuel and Power, England: BRUKL Certificate for submission with ‘Building Regulations approval’ application to show compliance of all non-domestic buildings under the 2006 Building Regulations, whether New buildings (L2A) or Existing buildings (L2B).
- Section 6 – Energy, Scotland: SBEM Specification Information Certificate for submission with ‘Building Warrant Application’ to show compliance with the energy requirements of the Scottish ‘Technical Handbooks’
Note: As a registered Approved Certifier of Design - Section 6: Energy (ACD) we are able to assess Architect's drawings and issue supplementary Certificates of Design enabling a reduction in Building Warrant application fees.
- At the completion of any project we can prepare and issue the ‘As-built' Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in accordance with the requirements of the ‘Building Completion’ notification process, or alternatively for ‘Shell & Core’ developments.
* Note that some special-purpose buildings or those of unusual geometric form may be excluded from SBEM capabilities
